4 part pledge
Part 1: Preparing For Your Event
I will;
- Be available to discuss plans for my advocacy training or advocacy keynote;
- Know who you are, what you do, and why you do it;
- Understand my role and have specific plans to meet or exceed your goals for my presentation;
- Know why your people want to hear what I have to say on this training or development topic;
- Know and understand the theme of your meeting and relate my program to it;
- Work with you and other speakers, speakers bureau to assure your program goals are met; and
- Keep you informed in advance of my travel itinerary
Part 2: On-Site Action
I will;
- Immediately notify you when I arrive on site. Notify you immediately should there be any serious delays;
- Be available to you the whole time that I am at the site;
- Be considerate in the use of my room charges and incidental expenses;
- Be available in the meeting room 1 hour ahead of when I speak;
- Coordinate with set-up crew and other presenters to make sure my needs fit your overall needs;
- Stay out of the way until I speak;
- Be appropriately dressed to fit the program;
- Work with the set-up crew to maximize program impact on you audience and vise versa;
- Be in the room, ready to go, prior to my introduction; and
- Provide an easy, brief introduction and be available to coach my introducer
Part 3: Program Commitment
I will;
- Be energized and focused in opening my program;
- Interact and involve the audience through dialog, asking them questions, a show of hands, eye contact, and exercises;
- Present well researched, accurate, profound information;
- Use appropriate slides and audio clips, video clips, to enhance the look, feel and impact of the program;
- Never be rude to an audience member;
- Allow for questions and comments form the audiend during my presentation;
- Relate my points to your organization and people;
- Never abuse my assignment by turning my speech into a sales pitch; and
- Stick to my time frame and adjust if needed.
Part 4: Post Convention Work
I will;
- Stay after my speech and interact with the attendee’s, answering questions or to hear comments;
- Check out with minimum effort to you;
- Itemize my expenses and bill you quickly, per our agreement;
- Send materials to members of the audience who requested it;
- Suggest strategies to continue the impact of the presentation on the audience; and
- Accept personal phone calls or email to follow up on the speech individual audience members or executives

as a personal and professional code of conduct for speakers.
